Obelisk – S/T Demo MC

Arising from the swampy plains of so-called Brisbane/Meanjin are Obelisk; a new 3-piece industrial crust project bringing you their debut offering in tape form. Five unforgivingly bleak tracks with genre elements also heavily embedded in UK extreme metal/punk as well as the darker end of the UK anarcho spectrum. Impressively executed drum machine and the carefully crafted incorporation of brooding electronics/synth-laden atmospherics only adds to the overall mystique on this monolithic journey through an impenetrable fog.

Densely gloom ridden from the onset and throughout. Evocatively embracing the realms of an apocalyptic wasteland in the midst of nuclear winter. It’s everything you could ask for when it comes to sonically portraying what happens when the doomsday clock sits at one minute past midnight. Embodying a spirit akin to that of Amebix and Killing Joke with strong nods to Godflesh, Fall Of Because and Spine Wrench. Furthermore, drawing parallels to the soundtrack-esque aspects of the industrialised crust-opera of Saw Throat - ‘Inde$troy’. Whilst having a captivatingly authentic feel to a modern band à la Rigorous Institution. An elite recording of epic proportions with the highest of recommendations.

There’s no sanctuary for the living when the enemy remains the same. What do you see when the clouds clear?

200 copies available on black stickered tape shells in hand-numbered j-card w/ xeroxed lyric sheet insert.
