Longing Maw – Hope LP
Label: Gutter Prince Cabal
Genre: Local, Black Metal
Longing Maw's Hope is named eponymously after poet Emily Dickinson's 'Hope is the thing with feathers' — a lyric poem in ballad meter published posthumously as 'Hope' in 1891. Brisbane's Longing Maw credit the title track to Dickinson's work, basing it's music around the ballad.
The remaining three tracks credited to Longing Maw are hateful and depressing black metal, otherwise described by the band as 'music to feel worse to...'.
Features drums by Australia's Robin Stone and additional ambience from recording engineer, musician and producer Aaron Worboys. Cover art by Ethan McCarthy (Primitive Man), mastered by renowned US mastering studio Audiosiege.
