Hexis – Tando Ashanti MC

HEXIS play a completely oppressive, bleak and unforgiving union of sludge, black metal and hardcore. Their sophomore full-length, Tando Ashanti, continues the band's propagation of suffocating and dense walls of sound, played with the same level of aggression and harshness as on debut Abalam. The hardcore elements of HEXIS are best felt in the length and structure of their tracks, and the string snapping aggression in which they're played. Combined with the putridity of sludge, and the cold edge of a more black metal style of riff, Tando Ashanti becomes a deliberately and belligerently-so dynamic-less affair that leaves the listener gasping for air until its final notes.
