Excidium – Infecting the Graves - Vol. 2 CD
Label: Despise The Sun Records
Genre: Death Metal
First metal band of Molise, Exciudium was born in 1986 in Termoli, in province of Campobasso, by the will of Danny Cinicolo, lead guitarist and mastermind of the band. The line-up at the time included, besides Danny, Johnny on rhythmic guitar and voice, Jedi on bass and Tommy on drums.
The first official record is the demo tape “Symphonies of death” of 1987, focused on thrash metal influensed by Slayer and Possessed, adopted immediately with excitement by the press at the time, HM firstly. With the next demo tape “Virus tenebrarum”, of 1988, started to appear first death metal influences, even if the base remains thrash metal.
It's necessary to wait “Anthropophagy”, 1990, to have an ever more mature and complete songwriting with a death metal that starts arrogantly to take the place of primordial thrash of the beginning of the band career.
The tape indicates the first line-up change, with the passage of Johnny on the bass and Jedi on voice, over the appearance of Lewy on second guitar. The band starts to asquire a status of cult band thanks to continuosly positive reviews and interviews on the most known magazines of the time, and with “Defunto”, demo tape of 1991, we have a real stylistic change.
The line-up is upset and it sees the only Danny and Gianni conduct the band, supported by Daniel Di Rocco on voice, Luigi Pagano on second guitar and Ascanio Costantino on drums and thrash metal is definitely abandoned. The band then achieve a rotten and at the same time a technical death metal and the influence of a band like Pestilence starts to get clear.
In 1993 it sees Excidium finally arrives at the long awaited contract, with french Adipocere Records, that Publishes the 7" on vinyl “Infecting the graves”. Meantime Max Cocco took over from Luigi Pagano, and with this line-up the band records, besides already mentiones 7", a promo tape of 1993, witch was to serve as a Trailblazer fot the debut full length.
Unfortunately, problems of various nature lead, shortly thereafter, the band to break up, just a step away from the debut album. Danny and Gianni will later form Maleficarum, cointinuing to explore death metal horizons, while nothing is known about other members.
Among the the various live performances, the “Metal Thrashing Event II” of 1992 remains memorable.
Sick old school death metal from Italy, Vol. 1 features their "Anthropophagy" Demo 1990, "Defunto" Demo 1991 and the "Promo Tape 1993" Demo 1993, with amazing new cover art from Chris Moyen!
