Abuse SS – S/T 7"
Label: R.I.P. Peace
Genre: Punk
Savage d-beat apocalypse raw punk execution all the way from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Eight tracks of complete and utter hail to Sweden. A scathing debut release, yet a final offering from this fresh faced 4-piece outfit. ABUSE SS have been holding it down in the south of the US recently; belonging to a growing contingent of exciting new bands that are well and truly worthy of your time and attention. With members also involved in groups such as PETAL, LEACH, RUNT and ILUSION DE PAZ. You might as well keep an ear to the ground.
A captivatingly visceral display of Swedish influenced hardcore punk chaos that feels both authentic and refreshing in its overall tone and nature. GBG82 in TN26 may be the appropriate tag here owing to the way in which this has all been recorded. Clattering percussive fury, screeching guitar leads and blown out bass distortion lay a menacing foundation for the harrowing cries that ensue. With strong nods to the blistering mayhem of both the SHITLICKERS and ‘Raped Ass’ era ANTI-CIMEX mixed with sonic aspects akin to the rampaging DISKONTO plus some 2010s flavour not too dissimilar to say HEAVY NUKES.
This is one of the more impressive iterations of this d-takt rå punk style I’ve heard in recent memory outside of its homeland. A meticulous attention to auditory detail that captures and harnesses a sound that is often imitated but not quite replicated in modern terms with more contemporary production choices tending to prevail. Is this living? Take a listen and see for yourself. It’s a horrible life.
Limited to 200 copies on black vinyl housed in hand-numbered record sleeve that comes w/ xeroxed A4 lyric sheet insert.
